There may not be any snow on the ground, the lake may not be frozen, and the temperature is much milder than normal, but Santa Clause is still coming to town.
On behalf of the SLCA, we would like to wish everyone the best of times throughout this holiday season.
Relax and enjoy time with your friends and family.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon, in what is sure to be a fantastic 2016.

Hoping that everyone is enjoying the fall. It's a great time to get some work done around the lake.
Members who receive printed copies of the newsletter should have received them by now.
Please note the winner of the 2015 Landscape photo was incorrectly reported in the printed version, and congratulations goes to Cathy Wilson.
Soon we'll drift into the holiday season, then after that we'll start thinking about our next summer at lake.
Please remember that the SLCA is looking for assistance in three important areas; i) Social Director, ii) Municipal Affairs, and iii) Vice-President
Volunteering into an SLCA positions doesn't need to take too much of your time, and it is very important that these positions get filled as soon as possible.

As we approach the end of the summer season, the SLCA would like to express its sincerest thank you to all the volunteers who
shared their time and energy on events throughout the summer. Their contribution helps make this lake that much more special.
And please remember that the SLCA is looking for someone to oversee the events as Social Director.
For additional information, please reach out to anyone on the executive team.
There are still some warm days in our forecast, so let's not start counting the days to spring just yet.

Steenburg Lake is being featured at the Old Hastings Mercantile & Gallery in Ormsby next week.
Starting on Monday, July 27 through to Sunday, August 2nd all Steenburg Lake merchandise will be on sale.

And if you are the first person who knows the secret message before entering the store each weekday (Monday to Friday) next week, then you will receive a special gift. They will be posting the message on their Facebook page.

Fireworks rescheduled to July 4, 2015
The rain last weekend made it necessary for the Cochrane's to postpone their fireworks event until July 4th, 2015.
Make sure to head over and check it out. You won't be disappointed ;)

Regatta is scheduled for July 11th
The SLCA would like to thank Jennifer Vanner for volunteering to host the 2015 Regatta at the beach.
Join us at 11am for activities, followed by the BBQ.

We are off to a good start for a wonderful summer 2015.
Our spring newsletter has been published and it is full of useful information.
Those you are still receiving printed copies should be receiving it shortly.
The paperless version, it is now also available online in our Lake News.
There are also employment opportunities available with our townships, including seasonal work.
For those who are interested, you should visit the township websites at Limerick and
Tudor/Cashel, or contact the townships directly for more information.

The Victoria Day long weekend is just around the corner, and the summer season is ready to kick-off.
The SLCA has updated the event calendar, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
We are currently looking for volunteers to run with the Regatta & BBQ on July 11th.
This event attracts well over 100 attendees, and is a good time for all.
We would like to thank the Anderson family for hosting the event for past couple of years, and Eric Huygens of Ontario Tree Care for helping with the BBQ.
This year will require new volunteers to make sure the event can happen as scheduled.

On Saturday evening, April 18, 2015 North Hastings Fire Service issued this notice to all residents:
There is a COMPLETE FIRE BAN on in all of North Hastings until further notice.
Municipalities affected are:
Town of Bancroft
Municipality of Hastings Highlands
Faraday Township
Municipality of Wollaston
Township of Tudor/Cashel
Municipality of Carlow/Mayo
Township of Limerick

Seaonal Residents visiting the lake should plan ahead
Trudy's ran out of gas last week, so plan ahead and be safe.
UPDATE: It was reported on Facebook that Trudy's has received a small shipment of regular gas.
Family Day is great opportunity to also show support for our local retailer, and if they are short on gas, then we should only take what we need and leave some for the trail riders.
Hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly.

January is almost behind us, and Family Day is right around the corner.
If you are coming up to Steenburg lake for the Valentine/Family Day long weekend, plan to visit the Cochrane's at 1035 North road.
On Saturday, February 14th starting at 11am, Mike & Donna Cochrane will be hosting their annual Family Day event.
There will be fun and games, and hopefully some fish beneath the ice willing to be caught and counted.
Tickets will be available ($10) for a door prize draw. Two tickets to the Toronto Maple Leaf game against the San Jose Sharks on March 19 have been generously donated to the fishing derby by Jim & Pat Riches.
Hot Dogs and French Fries will also be served.
Plan to dress warm, and bring your skates and hockey sticks for extra fun on the ice.
